Ullal: As Ullal continues to reel under tension, police have arrested as many as 60 persons in connection with disruptive acts reported from the area in the past couple of days. Meanwhile Section 144 continues to be in force in Ullal and police are maintaining a strict vigil to prevent any untoward incident.



























Addressing the media, city Police Commissioner R Hitendra informed that measures are being taken to bring the situation under control. All those arrested will be under judicial custody for the next 14 days. They have been lodged in Bellary jail at the moment, he said.
Earlier stones were pelted on four houses at Mogaveerapatna and two houses in Kotepura but violence has not been ended. There is also information that in Bandikotiya at Ullal, a house and a temple has also been damaged in the wee hours of Friday, irrespective of the night beat conducted by the police on Thursday night. Also at Chambugudde a bus was pelted with stones.
Sources say as many as 75 persons have been injured in the violence.
The Deputy Commissioner of police, five inspectors from the city police commissionerate and four teams of Karnataka state reserve police were deployed to control the situation.
Meanwhile, Minister of health and family welfare U T Khadar, who is also the MLA of Ullal constituency, has appealed for peace.
