News Karnataka

News Karnataka has been quite vocal against this issue right from the time it was proposed. In fact several articles have been published from time to time on these pages to generate awareness among the readers and to create a channel to thwart the diversion project.

We are indeed in favour of positive growth for the people. But development can never come to happen at the cost of the destruction of existing natural resources. Read more here….

Diversion to Destruction..!?

It is indeed a great irony that a diversion is usually meant to lead people away from impending danger – not to lead them into the mouth of destruction – that too, of a yet incomprehensible scale.

In probably one of the greatest cons of all time, at least in India, the over-ambitious project that has so far changed names three times is already looking more like ‘DIVERTING the innocent public attention, while they carry on with a sinister and selfish scheme that is guaranteed only to quench the thirst of power hungry politicians rather that of the common man in question’. Even more ironic is the fact that this huge con operation will actually only succeed in DIVERTING public (read tax payer) money to the tune of over 8000 cr, in a project that may in the end never really reach the desired source nor serve/solve the common man’s problems.

After all, government projects are already notorious for the kickbacks and compromises that even the best laid plans have suffered. We all know that corrupt officials lurking around every corner of the  bureaucracy will siphon off a large chunk of the budgeted fund (yet another DIVERSION!) resulting in  poorly  executed ground work that will naturally, fail miserably. And what is at stake? The  natural wealth of the Western Ghats – the very life source of the people of Karnataka. A lifeline that defines the state is a wealth that belongs not just to you and me, but to the generations to come. One has absolutely no right to tamper with, let alone destroy it, for a plan that will benefit only a lesser part of the populace. The whole scenario is one of “robbing peter to pay paul”. Who is going to pay for the impending failure of this folly…? And for how long..?
