Peshawar: In the troubled region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, an incident involving the abduction of a district and sessions judge by armed individuals has concluded with the judge’s safe release, as confirmed by Barrister Saif, the spokesperson of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), in an early Monday statement.
The judge was taken captive near the border area between Tank and Dera Ismail (DI) Khan, adjacent to Afghanistan, on April 27. Fortunately, the judge’s driver emerged unharmed, and authorities were able to recover the vehicle at the scene.
According to the KPK Police’s counter-terrorism department, the sessions judge has been freed without conditions and has returned home safely. Barrister Saif highlighted the collaborative efforts of the KPK government and security forces in combating terrorism in the region.
Prior to the judge’s release, authorities had noted that no group had claimed responsibility for the abduction.
