A protege of Dick Wolf, McCaffrey enjoyed a successful 35-year career in television and film, maintaining his passion for character creation despite often being cast in leading man roles due to his striking appearance.

Kevin Dillon, known for his role as Johnny “Drama” Chase in HBO’s Entourage, first reported McCaffrey’s death on Instagram, expressing gratitude for having known him and lamenting the loss of a dear friend.

McCaffrey, recognized for portraying Max Payne in Remedy’s three-game series, as well as roles in other Remedy games like Alan Wake and Control, was recently the voice of Alex Casey in Alan Wake 2. Remedy, in a statement on Twitter, expressed deep sadness at the passing of their beloved collaborator, acknowledging McCaffrey’s remarkable talent and the lasting impact he had on the gaming community.
