New Delhi: During the Bharatiya Janata Party parliamentary meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that the conduct of the Opposition in Parliament would lead to a decline in their numbers in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while the BJP is expected to see an increase in its parliamentary strength.
Modi also expressed apprehension about the “attempts” to justify the security breach in Parliament, deeming it as concerning as the incident itself, as conveyed by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi to reporters.
In response to the Parliament breach on December 13, where two protesters jumped into the lower house chamber and released smoke cans, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attributed the incident to unemployment and rising prices. Modi criticized such attempts to justify the breach, emphasizing that everyone upholding democratic values should have collectively condemned the incident. According to BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, Modi questioned how a party, purportedly supporting democratic values, could openly or subtly endorse such actions.
