Mysuru: Kannada movie ‘Ishtakaamya’ directed by renowned director Nagatihalli Chandrashekhar which is about ‘real life’ in today’s times is able attract huge audiences and has touched the 50 day mark , when even high budget movies fail to create an impact in the minds of movie goers.

The movie revolves around married life and live-in relationships which is a trend by itself in today’s societal structure. The team has made an effort to inject realities and test the mind of the viewer by not giving too much emphasis on the entertainment part. The movie gives perfect platform for women with focus on gender equality and goes along knitting real life situations together.

“The movie was made after consulting divorced couples and leading lawyers and after studying the impact of uneasy relationships on society. Most educated people living in large cities are getting drawn to live-in culture today”, said Director Nagatihalli Chandrashekhar.

“Off late the actors are not inclined to act in movies with good literary content. Telugu and Tamil directors come with mega movie CD’s and there is urgency to remake those movies as lot of money is involved. It gives me immense happiness as this movie is based on good literary content to suit today’s movie goers,” he said.

Expressing satisfaction over his role the lead actor Vijaya Surya who took a leap from small screen following the steps of another renowned actor Yash said, “The success gives me confidence and I feel that there is not much difference with regard to acting when compared to small screen.”

Vijaya Surya said that he will rely on the few opportunities he gets. He thanked the fans for appreciating his performance.

Reacting to the success, Kavya Shetty the lead actress said, “It’s a privilege to get involved with a director like Nagatihalli Chandrashekhar. The two different roles with equal responsibility for women in the movie is a special effort by the director”

Few days back during a function in Mysuru, the director had mentioned that movie goers rely on the substance and the unnecessary distortions by injecting unwanted material will not help the movie in drawing crowds. That should not be the effort as it will divert the movie focus and thereby dilutes the real content.

He rued over the sidelining of good literary content and getting drawn to ‘money over matter’ culture by actors and directors and expressed the need to reverse the unhealthy trend.

The movie team was in Mysuru to thank the fans for their support. Lots of fans had gathered in front of the theatre to meet the star cast and movie makers.

Through the movie, the director wants to inject newness in his future projects.

Let that ‘newness’ touch ‘new horizons’!
