Mysuru: With an intention to save trees and create eco-friendly environment, JIIV a city based organisation launched eco-friendly writing instruments at SBRR Mahajana First Grade College premise on Sunday.

Speaking after launching the new eco-friendly writing instruments that are made up of newspapers and reusable paper and books, Deputy Commissioner C Shikha said, “It is high-time we have innovative approach to protect our nature. It is a good achievement from the members of the organisation. They have redefined writing instruments like pencil that kills thousands of trees every year. This kind of initiative should be promoted and much needed awareness must be spread among the people. As part of our Go Green project, for the first time the district administration has joined hands with the private organisation where we will be planting one lakh saplings across the city. Already nearly 30,000 saplings have been planted at different places.”

Vishal Choudhary, founder of JIIV, who was also the student of Mahajana College said, “For the sake of pencil, every year across the world 82,000 trees are chopped. So after seeing this along with my team members I wanted to try something innovative that connects people with the environment. Hence we decided to redefine writing instruments using recycled newspapers that can save billions of trees. So we developed this eco and customer friendly product and are striving hard to promote it in large scale.”

Principal of Mahajana’s First Grade College  K V Prabhakar and Chairman of NR Groups R Guru were present.
