Mysuru: Among the 35 students of a government school who were injured after the goods auto in which they were traveling toppled at Tethegowdanahalli cross in Nanjangud Taluk on Saturday, 25 of them got discharged. Meanwhile, the parents of the seriously injured students’ have demanded their children to be treated in a private hospital for better treatment.

Suchitra who suffered right leg injury is seen undergoing treatment at KR Hospital
DV Siddaraju and Suchitra who are studying class 10 and 9 respectively have suffered serious leg injuries and undergoing treatment at KR Hospital (Stone building block). Unfortunately both of them are not getting the much needed attention from the doctors. It is the same case with DS Channappa, class 9 student who suffered serious neck and shoulder injury. The Doctor who attended Channappa in the morning had informed the parents to get a neck belt as it was not available in the hospital. Immediately Siddaiah, father of Channappa managed to get the belt by 9am; but even after 5pm, the doctor or even the nurse failed to put the belt to Channappa who is suffering from severe neck and shoulder pain. Though it was brought to the notice of nurses, they too were helpless as they told that the doctor should come and give the instruction.

The parents of Siddaraju and Suchitra who are upset with the treatment want their children to be treated in private hospital. “The treatment which is been given at KR Hospital is not satisfactory. Government should make arrangement to provide treatment at well-equipped private hospitals” added Siddaiah. Even the parents of Suchitra demanded the same.

The parents called upon the police department to initiate stringent action against the goods auto driver who forcibly took their children in his auto.

Basappa, DDPI said, “During peak time there are no buses which is forcing students to depend on goods autos. I will have a meeting with the RTO and the Superintendent of Police and even with the KSRTC officials and try to arrange buses during this time from Nanjangud to Kasubinahalli and other neighboring places so that students can avoid going in goods autos”.

It may be recalled that on Saturday, a goods auto carrying over 35 students toppled near Tethegowdanahalli in Nanjangud taluk after the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a curve.
