Apple Addresses iPhone Alarm Sound Issue

A software bug caused some iPhone users to fall asleep in spite of silent alerts, which sparked a wave of angry social media posts. Many people use their phones as their main alarm clocks, so the unplanned sleep in created some havoc for those who get up early. Fortunately, Apple is developing a quick fix to get things back on track, according to the BBC.
A social media user expressed her displeasure that her “like five alarms” had not gone off.

Apple acknowledged the problem with silent iPhone alarms, but it hasn’t identified the root cause or provided a solution to stop wake-up calls from being missed. Furthermore, it’s unclear how many users are impacted and which particular iPhone models are involved.

The NBC Today Show broke the story first, emphasizing the predicament of early risers. If there isn’t a formal fix, users can try these few fixes:

Double-Check Settings: Make sure the volume is appropriate and the alarms are set correctly.

Suspect Attention Feature: There are rumors that Apple’s “attention-aware features” could be alarm silencing.

With the iPhone X and subsequent models, these features allow alert volume to be automatically adjusted based on user attention. TikTok users suggest that if users sleep with their screens facing them, these features could mute alarms.

Apple aims for a swift resolution, but until then, users might need to resort to old-fashioned alarm clocks to ensure timely awakenings.

Broken iPhone alarms are nothing new for iOS, in 2015 Apple released an update to fix its alarms, among other things — and they happen on other devices, too.
