Dubai: ‘Jesus Mary Joseph’ (JMJ) the largest Konkani Prayer Group in St. Mary’s Church Dubai celebrated their 9th Anniversary with variety of the entertainment programs and fellowship at the Main Hall of St.Mary’s Church Dubai in the evening at 7:30 pm onwards, on Friday 27th June.
The event initiated with an introduction of event by the Group Advisor Lawrence DSouza. JMJ Group’s Spiritual Director Fr. Frank Gomes was welcomed on the stage by entire JMJ Core Team. In the welcome address Core member Josly Pinto rendered warm welcome to Fr. Frank, distinguished guests and all other attendees.
Jerina Lewis, the Main Coordinator of JMJ felicitated Fr. Gomes with a flower bouquet. Fr. Frank in his brief message appreciated the prayer group’s efforts in bringing goodness to the people and advised to continue good work.
Advisor Lawrence DSouza narrated in brief on the initiation of JMJ Prayer Group 9 years ago. Lawrence also elaborated on JMJ’s many future plans to celebrate the 10th year. Fr. Frank initiated the 10th year celebrations with lighting the candle.

Much awaited cultural program began with a welcome song composed by Dubai’s well known singer and JMJ’s member Lancy Noronha. It was sung melodiously by JMJ Choir and JMJ Core Team. It was followed by welcome dance enacted by talented members of JMJ, Lavita Crasta and Jenish Mathias which was well appreciated. Enthusiastic singers Leora DSouza, Abagail Viegas, Darren Shawn Mathias and Sancia Fernandes captivated the audience with their songs. Teen member Calvin Rodrigues’ Konkani song won the hearts of people.
This was followed by great dance numbers by Lanita Noronha, Vinnet Lobo, Brian Fernandes and George Menezes which entertained the audience with their hidden talents and superb choreography.
A meaningful skit ‘Ghar Bejmeth’ with a message on cleanliness was performed by JMJ member Clifferd Rodrigus and his team. Also Clifferd’s team enacted a nice song Amchi Bassa’. JMJ members Lancy Noronha, Josly Pinto, Lancy Crasta and Anil Melwyn DSouza entertained the crowd with fabulousl Comedy Konkani Skits ‘Challenge’ and ‘PCU Doctor’.Between each dance numbers and songs, lots of prizes were distributed for lucky coupon draw winners.
JMJ Advisor Lawrence DSouza compeered the entire program with his usual superb MC skills and efficiency. Lawrence was supported by JMJ’s young talent Lanita Noronha with her great compering.
Entire program concluded at 9:15 pm. A scrumptious dinner provided by Canara Restaurant, Dubai owned by Leo DSouza was served to 600+ attendees.
Like every year, JMJ Konkani Prayer group continues to organize variety programs with great zeal and enthusiasm by arranging grand cultural programs and fellowship to its members, thus providing them memorable events along with every week’s spiritual activities.
JMJ Prayer Group encourage Konkani speaking people reside in Dubai as will as off Dubai City limits like in various camps to lead active Christian life, by providing free transport to attend weekly obligatory mass on Fridays in the evenings and thereafter to the prayers in the main hall. During every Friday prayer gatherings, adoration and the charismatic prayer service in Konkani are being conducted.
