Mysuru: The water scarcity in the district has started to bite, even before the summer has fully set in. This was apparent when the Public was unanimous in their complaints about the the water supply during the DC’s phone in programme here on Thursday. They complained in unison about both the dearth of supply and ground water. Shivalingappa from T N Pura, Sridhar from H D Kote said that there is no supply in their taluks.

Zilla Panchayat CEO P A Gopal said, ” During the previous year four taluks in the district were announced as drought regions and we had sufficient funds to handle the situation. But this year no taluk in the district has been declared as drought area. But we have informed about the water problem in the district to the Chief Minister Siddarmaiah and he has orally asked us to send a proposal to counter the water problems. We will be sending a Rs 6 crore proposal to remedy the situation.”
19 villages in Jaipura hobli had drinking water problems. After Tallu project implementation 13 villages are getting water. Maratikyathanahalli, beerihundi, jattihundi, DMG halli and shetty nayakana halli are getting water through tankers.”
Girish from T N Pura complained that a PDO is asking bribe to get all sorts of works done and also working in favour of political party representatives. A person from T N Pura complained that sand is being illegally transported by bullock carts and officials are sitting blindly. In the one hour programme, 15 phone calls were attended to by DC Shikha later grievances was addressed in person.
