Mysuru: Dr. C G Betsur Math Commissioner of Mysuru City Corporation said Mysuru is being crowned with many tags and soon it can become cleanest city in the state. Pourakarmikas must strive hard to make it a reality, he opined.
He was speaking at a nine day orientation programme on segregation at source and segregation of dry and wet wastes for Zone 6 pourakarmikas organised by the Mysuru City Corporation at the town hall.

Addressing the gathering he said that Mysuru is named the second cleanest city in the state still has a scope for improvement when it comes to waste segregation. Pourakarmikas must put their efforts in cleaning the city. City produces 402 tons of waste each day that is 60% of wet waste and the rest dry waste.
While collecting waste porakarmikas should put extra effort to educate the general public on the importance of segregation. It must be segregated at the root level.
Further he said that MCC has provided eight zero investment units and pourakarmikas must utilise it in a better way. The 60% of the wet waste must be disposed at compost plant and the remaining 160% of wet waste at disposal centres. “You must take the initiative and make sure that the waste is segregated properly. You should not set dry leaves on fire which leads to pollution and health issues. MCC is making efforts to lift the standard of living of the pourakarmikas and we will see to it that all benefits are ensured”, he added.
Lingappa Mayor, Mahadevamma Deputy Mayor, Ramdas, G R Vidyaranya resource persons , Ramachandrappa Health Officer, Rajalakshmi Corporator Ward number 37 and others were present.
