Villagers protest against journalist for offensive report

Kushalnagar: Villagers and representatives of various organisations staged a protest at Koodige here on December 12, Thursday opposing  an offensive report  on the Koodige Government Primary Health Centre’s Medical officer, made by the reporter of a local channel, that too when  the medical officer was known for his efficient service.

Hundreds of villagers participated in the protest organised by the Koodige Geleyara Balaga, Sri Udbhava Yuvaka Sangha and Grama Hitharakshana Samithi.

The protestors expressed their anguish over the journalist KS Murthi who tried to tarnish the image of Dr Ravindran, the medical officer.

They took out a protest march from Hale Koodige Circle to the Gram Panchayat office under the leadership of Pattada Venu, President of the Grama Hitharakshana Samithi. They formed a human chain on the main road and even blocked road for some time.

The protestors also demanded the arrest  of the accused reporter  immediately.Udbhava Yuvaka Sangha President K Varada and BV Arun Kumar, Member of Koodumangaluru GP demanded legal action against the erring journalist who had made baseless allegations against the medical officer.

The villagers submitted a memorandum to DYSP Nagappa nad Inspector Chikkaswamy who arrived at the protest venue urging for immediate action.
