Mysuru: During the food plaza organised as a part of the 17th National Jamboree for Scouts and Guides, people had opportunity to savour varieties of foods prepared by different states and union territories.
The participants and people, who had come to witness National Jamboree at Adakanahalli Industrial Area, tasted the delicacies of different states including Nagaland, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and host Karnataka. Minister Mahadevaprasad too satisfied his palate with variety of dishes prepared by different states. Most of the states came out with 15 to 20 varieties of food items.
Karnataka emerges as quiz champ:
Karnataka emerged as a champion in the 17th National Jamboree for Scouts and Guides. In the keenly contested finals, the Karnataka team held their nerve to the very last minute and managed to win the quiz competition followed by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangatan and Kerala who finished second and third respectively. The questions for the quiz were based on Scouts, Guides, Jamboree and general topic. Four participants from each state formed a group; over 52 states competed in the event. In the first round, which was a written test, five were shortlisted for the second and final round.
Blood donation by participants:
Nearly 150 participants donated blood during voluntary blood donation camp organised at a makeshift hospital by K R Hospital Blood Bank. Each of the participants, who have come from across the country, voluntarily donated 350 ml of blood. Among 150 participants, majority had a blood group- O positive. Before the participants donated blood, the eight-member blood bank personnel led by blood bank officer Dr Manjunath examined the patient’s height, weight and their haemoglobin level. Among the donors, 90 percent were boys.
Siddesh, who donated blood for the first time said, “To help the poor and needy people, I donated blood for the first time”. Kemparaju who donated blood for the third time said, “Blood donation will help the people in emergency”.
Yoga and March past by participants:
More than 5000 participants took part in the Yoga Day celebration. During the nearly one and half hour Yogasana session, the experts who had come from Mysuru demonstrated nearly seven to eight Asanas which were later performed by the participants. Due to problem in mike, some of the participants found it hard to follow the instruction which were given by yoga experts. A colorful march past was also presented by the participants.
