Bengaluru: The State Women’s Commission (SWC) registered a suo motu complaint on a case related to molestation of women on M G Road and Brigade Road areas of the city during New Year eve revellry.
The Women’s Commission took the initiative after electronic media reports emerged on the incident and asked the City Police Commissioner to respond immediately.

Reacting to reporters SWC chief, Nagalakshmi Bai said, “Media reports are very disturbing in nature and the educated people behaving in the most uncivilized manner is really appalling.”

Even with the presence of hundreds of CCTV cameras in the area, the city police failed to stop a group of women from getting molested, she said.

Notice has been served to the CoP who will initiate action to trace the culprits after examining the CCTV footages and those involved in the incident will not be spared, Nagalakshmi Bai warned.

In the meantime, State Home Minister G Parmeshwara too assured of strict action against the culprits after verifying the CCTV footages of the incident.
