UoM receives award at Rashtrapathi Bhavan

Mysuru: Dayanand Mane, Vice chancellor (in-charge) , University of Mysore and Lingaraja Gandhi, Director Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Board and Nodal Officer for Ranking, University of Mysore (UoM) received the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) award on behalf of the varsity (medal and certificate) at a function hosted at Rashtrapathi Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi on Monday where President Pranab Mukherjee presided.

Over 150 applications pour in as UoM VC's post goes vacant   -1The University of Mysore was ranked 36 (University category) among 774 universities across the country in the national survey conducted by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and is the only conventional public university from Karnataka State to figure in the NIRF Ranking-2017 and stands 57th position in the overall ranking. It aims to be among the top ten in the country by next year.

Lingaraja Gandhi who was instrumental in giving all the details about the university to NIRF said, “After this recognition, there is more responsibility on our part. With this, everybody is talking about UoM. Next year our target is to breach the top ten ranking in the country. For this, we will strive hard and do our best. We need to improve more on our research and should give importance on quality-oriented research. To take up various programmes and activities we need financial assistance from both state and central government.”
