Madikeri : The water bodies including tributaries of major rivers are overflowing, owing to incessant rains across Kodagu district. Nearly 10 houses are fully damaged, besides private property, roads and electricity supply snapped putting general life out of gear.




The torrential rains are lashing Tala Cauvery – Bhagamandala region that is the origin of Cauvery River, while Bhagamanda – Triveni Sangam has already inundated and about 2 feet water flows on Ayyangeri – Bhagamandala Road.
The old bridge that lies on the basin of Cauvery River has been inundated. Laxmanteerta rivulet that was flowing above the danger level owing to torrential rains in south Kodagu began to recede and general life is slowly returning to normal.
Casualty of floods:
Fifty-five-year-old Appanna, a resident of Kolikadu village, Cherangala, near Bhagamandala, here was perished in flood waters 2 days ago. His dead body was recovered on Thursday July 25.
Several trees were uprooted, electric poles damaged – snapping energy supply, owing to torrential rains across Somavarapete taluk.
The electricity supply in city was snapped owing to blast in feeder lines located near CESC office. The electricity supply has not restored in the villages of Bettadalli, Kotnalli, Kudigana, Nadnalli, Kumaralli, Beedalli, Heggadamane, Malmane, Kundalli, Tolur Shettalli, Kooti, Doddatoloor, Singanahalli since over a week.
The electric poles including cables collapsed when a huge tree uprooted near Kibbetta Estate on state highway at Shanivarasante.
The torrential rains are hindering the tourists in visiting Pushpagiri foothill and Mallalli falls that is flowing in its might.
The traffic has been disrupted owing to floods on Virajpete – Kerala state highway at Perumbady.
