Mysuru: The followers of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Rakesh Siddaramaiah, who passed away at Belgium due to organ failure on Saturday, are shocked in disbelief. The fans are mourning his death by putting banners and even Shamiyana at thoroughfares across the district especially at Siddaramanahundi. According to sources, apart from senior leaders from various parties, senior Congress leaders including Digvijay Singh and Rahul Gandhi are also expected to take part in the cremation.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah along with his wife, younger son, daughter-in-law and other members of the family are accompanying the mortal remains of Rakesh by Emirates Airlines which departed at 3.05pm from Brussels. They will be reaching Bengaluru Airport on Monday at 9.05am. Later in a special aircraft, they will travel to Mysuru and reach Mysuru at 10am from where the body will be brought to Dasara exhibition grounds where public can pay respect between 11am and 1.30pm. The mortal remains will be shifted later to Rakesh’s native place for cremation at Katur in Jayapura. The cremation will take place after 3.30pm.
Most of the politicians cutting across the party line are expected to participate in the cremation ceremony. Rakesh enjoyed a good clout of friends from all the political parties.
It can be brought to light that Rakesh had been to Belgium for a tour, during the course of which he had developed pancreatic problem and was admitted to Brussels Antewerp University Hospital. He was suffering from severe stomach pain for which he was admitted to the hospital, but later it came to light that he was suffering from severe pancreatic problem which forced even Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi and younger son Dr Yathindra to go to Belgium on Friday, July 29. Rakesh breathed his last the next day.
Great loss to Siddaramaiah
Rakesh used to look after the plight of Varuna constituency which is represented by Siddaramaiah. Now with his absence, it’s a great setback to him. The CM is expected to take some action in the coming days regarding the constituency.
Will Marigowda attend cremation?
Marigowda, the close confidant of Siddaramaiah and Rakesh who is absconding after verbally abusing Deputy Commissioner C Shikha, is expected to attend the cremation. There are rumors that he may attend the funeral in disguise.
