Mysuru: Every jurist should be a spiritual person and every judge should be a judge on himself, said Justice V Eshwaraiah, Chairperson, National commission for Backward Classes and former Judge of Supreme court.

Delivering the inaugural address during the conference on ‘Jurists as Protectors of Values’ organized by Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya at ‘Gyan Sarovar’ complex situated at Lingadevarakoppal on Hunsur Road near Yelwal here on Sunday he said, “In Mount Abu, where the headquarters of Brahmakumari is located, there is no single police to manage 20,000 odd people. There is no department, hierarchy system of administration, nobody takes any written order but everything goes automatically. That kind of government was there in ancient age. Now we have become self-administrative, self-regulated life people and want all types of regulation. Take the laws for example. How many laws made in India are truly implemented or truly followed? Therefore, every jurist should be spiritual and every judge should become judge on himself. To become judge on oneself, one should have control on thoughts, eyes, speech and action. Only then we can judge others. Before transforming the world, we should transform ourselves”.

Justice RB Budihal, Judge, High Court of Karnataka, Bengaluru who also spoke on the occasion said, “Those involved in spiritual activities including judge, lawyer and learned persons of the bar, can come out with quality work. We should know the use of spiritual principals if we adopt them in the judicial systems. Lawyers and Judges are like inter-linked; both play an important role in delivering the right judgment”.

He also mentioned that there is unrest in the country because of two terrorists in human life ‘I’ (egoism) and ‘Want’‘(Greed). Anybody keeping away these devils always has peace in their life. He also called upon the legal experts, especially lawyers to devote 10 to 15 per cent of their total service to needy people by way of providing legal aid. “Always be positive, do not have negative feelings in your heart,” pointed Justice Budihal.

Former Judge of Karnataka High Court Justice A.S.Pachapure, Chief Coordinator of Brahmakumaris Mysuru Sub-Zone, B.K.Lakshmiji presided over. Later after the address by the guests, there was also a panel discussion on the topic ‘crime-causes and remedies’. Judges, Advocates, Chartered Accountants, Notaries and Tax Consultants took part in the conference.
