Mysuru: A tempo went up in flames at Alanahalli ring road on Saturday and the locals have held unscientifically laid speed governor responsible for the mishap.

The tempo laden with vermicelli caught fire after the driver abruptly applied brake near the speed governors.

The persons in the vehicle spotted a flame and hence got down and tried to put off the fire by splashing water. However, the fire soon caught up and reduced burnt down the entire tempo.

Even as fire fighters reached the spot, there was nothing much left to be done as the tempo had already been reduced to ashes.
