Mysuru: Two wives of a doctor resorted to washing dirty linen in open, claiming rights over his property, close on the heels of his death.

Dr Suresh Gowda (72), originally hailing from Tumakuru, but residing in Mysuru passed away on Friday.
Several decades ago, Dr Gowda who was in love with a professor named Vijaya Bharathi could not marry her as his family opposed to this alliance. Instead, succumbing to the pressure from his family, he married Susheela.
However, keeping aside the social bond, Gowda refused to live with Susheela and continued to live with his lover Vijaya Bharati, claiming that he had secretly married her.
While the doctor has a daughter from his first marriage, he has two sons from Vijaya Bharathi.
After the death of Dr Gowda, Susheela claimed right over his body stating that she wanted to perform his last rites. But, objecting to the claim, Vijaya Bharathi showed a paper bearing thumb impression of the doctor, claiming that his last wish was to donate his body for research.
With this, Susheela registered a complaint with VV Puram police station stating that her husband’s death may not have been a natural death.
The body was then sent for post mortem and handed over to Susheela.
The doctor has made property running into crores of rupees. But, with the doctor reportedly having written all of the property in Vijaya Bharathi’s name, Susheela has said that she has been victimised.
Contesting the same, Susheela has pleaded before the police to make justice and also ensure that Dr Gowda’s pension at least reaches her.
