State Govt aims to make Karnataka Hunger Free : Ambarish

Mandya: The state government aims to make Karnataka a hunger free state, said state Housing and district-in-charge Minister Ambarish.

He was speaking after launching the much ambitious state project Anna Bhagya at Kilara village, near here on Wednesday July 10.

CM Siddaramaiah announced Anna Bhagya programme, to distribute rice at Re 1 per kilogram to poor families, in order to make Karnataka hunger free state, Ambarish said.

Under Anna Bhagya programme, a member of BPL family will get 10 kilograms of rice, 2 member- BPL family will get 20 kilograms and 3 member- BPL family will get 30 kilograms every month through fair price shops across the state beginning from July, Ambarish said.

He further added that with the timely arrival of monsoons, the state government has made arrangements to supply  the seedlings and fertilizers required by farmers. There is no dearth of seedlings as the state-owned stores have sufficient stocks, Ambarish said.
