Bangalore: “Why has CM Siddaramaiah issued orders to conduct caste-based census, when he had earlier openly said that he would not resort to caste politics?,” queried Opposition leader and former CM H D Kumaraswamy.
Addressing the media persons, Kumaraswamy said people who advocate that India is a secular country have issued orders for caste-based census that would cost crore of rupees to state exchequer. Why should caste aspect be given so much prominence?. Kumaraswamy questioned.
He further said organizations which had once protested against his family is now raising a clamour that he has done a major offence. He said he wanted to know their real intention.
They issue statements as if I have done a grave crime. They have focused on insignificant issues that I have mentioned during the public meeting. The truth will prevail if they analyze the facts, said Kumaraswamy.
Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy urged the state government to reach the benefits of Anna Bhagya programme to genuine beneficiaries. “It should not be misused. The irregularities in issuing BPL cards should be resolved. Every poor family should get BPL cards. The process of issuing such cards has to be simplified, urged Kumaraswamy.
