World Population Day Observed in Mangalore

Mangalore: World Population Day was observed at District Wenlock Hospital, here on Thursday July 11 under the joint aegis of Dakshina Kannada district administration, DK Zilla panchayat, District Health and Family Welfare Department and Mangalore University NSS. The state Forest, Environment and DK district-in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai inaugurated the programme.


Speaking on the occasion, Rai said population control can be achieved only through public awareness on population explosion.  The various governments have devised several measures to control the population explosion and  DK district has achieved major progress in this regard, said Rai.  He also urged each citizen to know his responsibility in contributing for national growth.

Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo presided the function. Mangalore north MLA Mohideen Bawa was the chief guest.

DK Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, Zilla Panchayat CEO Vijay Prakash were present on the occasion.
