Mysore: The Mysore Kodagu MP Pratap Simha raised the issue of the establishment of a Passport Seva Kendra in Mysore under Rule 377 in the Parliament session yesterday.
Speaking in Parliament, he said that the that the population of Mysore was reaching a million mark and it was essential for the city to have a Passport Seva Kendra to cater to the citizens of Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan and Kodagu districts. He added importantly that, Mysore being one of the major IT hubs in the State, few of the IT and ITES companies were sending its employees batch-by-batch to Bangalore to apply for the passports and added that the number of applicants had increased considerably in the past four years. He has also added that Mysore needed a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) as it was one of the international tourist destinations.
He also said that a PSK would boost Mysore’s brand value as Government and Apex industry bodies were planning to develop Mysore as model Tier-II city with world-class facilities for tourists and investment destination
The previous government had made a proposal to open a PSK in Mysore, one of 80 across the nation.
