State-level meet of Pourakarmikas in Bangalore

Mysore :The MCC Contract Pourarmikas Assoiciation President Harishraj, addressed the press  at the  Pathrakarthara Bhavan on the issues facing the Pourarmikas across the state. He said  “Though there is a directive from the Supreme Court to regularize contract Pourakarmikas, the State Government has been dragging its feet to implement the decision,” 

He added “ the BBMP had invited applications from candidates for 4,000 posts of Pourakarmikas when 18,000 of them have already been working on contract basis and about 35,000 were working in State. “

He announced that a State-level conference of Pourakarmikas has been organised in Bangalore on July 12. Harishraj added that the conference would urge the government to fulfil various demands of Pourakarmikas like regularisation of contract Pourakarmikas, reservation for their children in education and employment and funding the education of their children. He told the press that  2,000 contract Pourakarmikas from city would participate in the conference which would be attended by Chief Minister Siddharamaiah and other Ministers.
