Mysore: The students staged protest in front SJCE College, here alleging injustice in seat sharing owing to neglect of Karnataka Examination Board and collegiate education department, here on Tuesday July 16.
The protesters alleged that a few students with CET ranks are facing injustice owing to Sri Jaya Chamarajendra Engineering College (SJCE) in seat sharing, alleged the protesters.
One-hundred-twenty seats each are available at the College for electronics and communication,computer science. Out of 120 seats each, 60 seats are reserved for aided colleges and 60 are meant for un-aided colleges. Meanwhile, Karnataka Examinatin Board has shared 240 seats for both these courses meant for both aided and un-aided colleges, which has caused confusion in seat sharing and the students demanding for re-exams.
In spite the college governing council has brought these lapses to the state government, the officers did not take any measures, owing to which the governing council appealed to High Court that advised the government to reallocate the seats. At this backdrop, the students boycotted the classes.
Out of 60 seats reserved for aided colleges, 95 percent are government seats, for governing council 5 percent, out of 60 seats reserved for un-aided colleges, 45 percent are government seats, for governing council 20 percent and 30 percent to COMED-K. The students protested because the government has not followed the set norms in seat sharing.
Hundreds of students and their parents also participated in the protest.
