Mysore: The district administration warned fair price shops against selling subsidized rice for a higher price,on Monday.
The subsidized rice ordered to be sold at Re 1 per kilo to BPL families. If it is misused by the fair price shops, preventive measures will be taken by the district administration.
DC Ramegowda reviewed the Anna Bhagya Scheme implemented in the district last week and asked the officials from the food and civil supplies department to ensure that there is no misuse. “Cancel the license of the fair price shops which are found to misuse the rice. The food grain should not be sold at over Re 1 per kilo neither should it be diverted,” he said, during a meeting with the officials.
He asked officials to file criminal cases against erring fair price shopowners. There are 266 fair price shops in the city and in rural areas.
