Mallamma’s husband Basavalingappa had gone to Alur shanty when the murder happened.

Alur police said Supriya and Suman were abandoned by their father Chandrashekar following their mother’s death two years ago. The girls then left for Bangalore in search of a job. Supriya, found a job at a garment factory while Suman continued her school education. She was studying in class X.
