FIR against Minister Mahadev Prasad

Mysore(DH):A FIR has been filed against co-operation minister H S Mahadev Prasad by Lokayukta police on the basis of a private complaint filed by one Nandish from Chamarajnagar district in which he alleged the minister of filing a false affidavit to get sanctioned a site from the Karnataka Housing Board 16 years ago.He has complained that the minister has also violated various sections of the IPC.

He also alleged the minister of using his influence to buy the site at a lesser price than the market value.

In the complaint Nandish said that Mahadev Prasad being a public person and owning a site allotted by the Mysore Urban Development Authority in 1996 , he sought a site from the KHB at a colony being developed near Chamarajnagar town and got it sanctioned in 1998 .

In the affidavit the minister had falsely mentioned that he owned no site of his own allotted by any government agency.

Nandish filed a case in the district court and sought the court to hear his petition. Court in 2013 directed the Lokayukta police to file a case under the prevention of corruption act and investigate. When Lokayukta delayed in proceeding against the minister Nandish urged the court to direct the Lokayukta to expedite the investigation and file a charge sheet against the minister at the earliest.

Meanwhile the minister approached the high court seeking quashing of the complaint filed by Nandish , but high court refused to stay the proceedings in the lower court . Hearing a petition filed by Nandish to expedite the investigation of the case , the district court on Thursday directed Lokayukta to file a FIR and proceed further.
