Mysuru: Looks like there is no end for the protests in connection with Cauvery water in the state. The state has witnessed unique protests urging the government to solve the water issue. Similarly on Monday, activists of National Student Union of India Mysuru unit wrote letters to the Prime Minister with their blood urging him to intervene in the long-standing water dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Karnataka has been facing repeated injustice over sharing Cauvery river water with Tamil Nadu. CM Jayalalithaa has been using the issue for political gains and has approached Supreme Court asking for more release of water, the protesters said.
“The water flow in KRS dam for the current year is not as expected. We do not even have enough water for drinking. At this juncture, the order by the apex court to release more water is unfortunate and inappropriate. Hence we urge Prime Minister to intervene and solve the dispute as soon as possible,” they urged.
The state has witnessed widespread protests following Supreme Court order to release Cauvrey water to neighbouring Tamil Nadu state. Following the SC order, protests had turned violent across the state especially in Bengaluru.
