Bengaluru: In yet another shocking incident, two women were hacked to death in broad daylight on Monday morning, September 26.
The deceased are identified as Santhoshi Bai (50) and Latha Dinesh (31).
The double murder took place in Vasanth Nagar near Cantonment area at around 9 AM. Santhoshi Bai and her daughter-in-law Latha were staying in the house along with Latha’s minor daughter Meenal (14) for many years now. According to police, both were separated from their family members and were living together from a few years.
According to preliminary reports, a gang of 4-5 members gained entry into the house and hacked them to death with lethal weapons. “Police suspect that someone known to the family is behind the heinous act as no evidence of forceful entry into the house is found,” police said.
Commissioner of Police Megharik ruled out the case as murder for gain because no valuables were found missing from the scene of crime. “The family members are likely to be involved in the case,” he mentioned.
The incident came to light after Latha’s daughter Meenal came home from school in the afternoon. Latha’s spouse runs a petty shop at Chickpet and he was out on work when assailants attacked the duo. Police concluded that the investigation is on and statements from the neighbors and relatives have been recorded so far.
