Madikeri: Madikeri Dasara organizing committee in association with Karnataka State Kannada and Culture department has planned a cultural bonanza for all those visiting the city during Dasara at Gandhi Maidan. A plethora of cultural programs is in store for all to cherish between October 3 to 11 with three days earmarked for women, youth and children.
Dasara cultural program organizing committee chairman H T Anil revealed all details at a press conference and said a special committee has worked on the entire program schedule. A day wise schedule is listed below:
October 3
- Dance performance by green mountain college troupe, Madikeri
- Dance performance by Natya Mayura dance school , Virajpet
- Entertainment programs by Vikas special school children
- Karaga performance by Sharada art school, Kushalnagar.
- Dance performance by Bhairavi dance group, Bengaluru
- Dance performance by gowda community women union, Madikeri
October 4
- Mohiniattam and Kuchipudi performances by Jaganmohan Natyalaya, Virajpet
- Musical performance by Jnana Aithal , Mangaluru
- Diverse cultural performances by Nellakki youth (Women) group
- Golden songs by Birunani Srinivas
October 5
- Fun and humour by Three Kisses (Mooru Muthu) fame, performance Satish Pai from Kundapur
- Dance performances by ‘Kala Parishat’ and ‘Team Attitude’, Kushalnagar
- Dance performances by Kadagadalu Bottappa youth Union.
October 6
- Taekwondo Heroics by Taekwondo centre, Madikeri
- Dance performances by Born dance school

October 7: Women Dasara
- Exhibition and sale of products by women groups
- Rich food grains display

Other main events planned during evening are
- Dare to dance performance by Field Marshal Cariappa college girls
- Renowned singer MD Pallavi will be performing on stage for the first time in Madikeri dasara.
- In addition traditional music and dance performances can be witnessed by different groups coming from various parts of Kodagu district.
October 8
October 9: Children dasara
- Fancy dress, Makkala santhe, clay modeling and sconce modeling events.
Apart from above folk arts and dance competitions will also be held.
After 6 PM
- Talent show by renowned child artist Poorvi Rao, Mangaluru
- Dance performance by Swastha special school children
- School children from various schools will also be performing in the evening
- ‘Talking monkey’ by Jaggu Jadugar will be added attraction.
October 10
- Dance performances by Nisaraga Dancing stars, Ultimate waves and D company all based in Madikeri.
October 11
- Program to showcase Kodava culture sponsored by Kodava Academy
- Skating dance by Kodagu skating association.
- Special dance performance by Bharghavi group, Udupi
- Laser beam show by information and communication department, GOK.
Children’s Dasara will be overseen by Kalmaranda Shahsi Monnappa of Rotary misty hills where as the rich grain show during women’s dasara will be overseen by Cheppudira Saru Satish and the entire women dasara programs by TMC members and officials. Lot of other clutural groups from different parts of the distrci will perform during the nine day period.
District administration too has coordinated and given vital suggestions to make the entire event successful, HT Anil confirmed during the press conference. Other members of the cultural committee were present during the press briefing.
