Mysore : A meeting of the Mysore divisional level Panchayatraj representatives was convened at the Zilla Panchayat auditorium here on Tuesday June 3 under the leadership of MLA and former speaker KR Ramesh Kumar.

The main objective of the meeting was to realise the vision of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi with regard to administrative decentralisation and Panchayatraj  system and to ensure active participation of women,backward and weaker sections in the administration as envisioned by  the late prime minister Rajeev Gandhi.

Ramesh Kumar is also the President of a committee constituted by the government to review the progress registered in realising the Grama Swaraj concept.

Janakamma, President of Piriyapattana Taluk Panchayat, Chandravathi, former  panchayat member from Hassan. GC Bayya Reddy, President of Karnataka Pranthya Raitha Sangha,  C Narayanaswamy,  former MP, FL Jakkappa, Vice President of Dr Ambedkar Foundation, G Dakshinamurthy, former secretary of Law Department and others were present.
