Mysuru: In a span of two hours, three chain snatching incidents were reported in city here on Friday, July 22. The chain snatchers made maximum use of lack of police who were deputed in various places as part of Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari’s visit to Mysuru who will be taking part in the valedictory function of centenary celebration of University of Mysore. Apart from this many police were also on duty atop Chamundi Hill on the occasion of Ashada Shukravara.
In a first incident reported at Dattagalli, a 28-year-old Suguna was robbed of her 40gm gold chain near Triveni Circle. Bike borne miscreants approached her seeking address of a music teacher; the pillion rider within no minute snatched her chain and escaped. Later at Vijayanagar third cross, one Megha was the victim. The duo in similar way approached her to know the address and snatched her gold chain. As Megha resisted, the duo managed to take only piece of chain weighing 20gm. Again at Hebbal, one Ruckmini was robbed of her 40gm gold chain near Abhishek Circle. The modus operandi looks similar in all the three cases and police suspect that it may be handiwork of Irani gang.
Soon after coming to know about three chain snatching incidents in span of just two hours, Police Commissioner B Dayananda along with DCP N Rudramani visited the spots. The cases have been booked at Kuvempunagar and Vijayanagar Police station limits.
