Mysuru City Corporation jolted by irregularities in tax collection

Mysuru: A city corporation member exposed financial irregularities committed by certain corporation revenue officials while collecting taxes and issuing khata receipts to genuine site holders during the council meeting on August 19.

Shocking revelation

Opposition leader Jagadish opened pandora’s box when he said MCC Zone -9 revenue officials issued Rs 100 receipt after collecting taxes to the tune of Rs 82000 from a site holder. Later only Rs 100 was deposited in the official corporation account. The revelation sent shock waves among those present in the council meeting.

When Mayor BL Byrappa questioned Assistant commissioner Aradhya to get his view, he responded saying that there is enough evidence on the gross irregularities committed. Aradhya confirmed that a report has been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner to investigate and nail the guilty.

Shocked Mayor said, elected representatives from all three political parties along with standing committee members will examine the documents to assess the nature of financial irregularities. He assured stern action against those involved in the scam.
