Mysore: Rich tributes paid to Ambedkar on his 57th death anniversary

Mysore: The 57th death anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution was observed here under the aegis of the District Administration, Department of Social Welfare, Mysore City Corporation and Mysore Urban Development Authority.

Mysore Mayor NM Rajeshwari Somu and Deputy Commissioner C Shikha paid floral tributes to the statue of Ambedkar in front of the Town hall.

Deputy Mayor Shailendra, Regional Commissioner Jayanthi, Zilla Panchayat President Koorgalli Mahadevu, Police Commissioner Dr Saleem, Legislator GT Deve Gowda and several other dignitaries were present.

On behalf of the Department of Kannada and Culture, songs on Ambedkar were rendered on the occasion. Preachings on  Buddha’s Panchasheela Tatwa were also delivered on behalf of Buddha Sangha. There was even a  book exhibition displaying works on Ambedkar and Buddha.
