Mysore Dasara jumbos to return to thier camps

Mysore: After participating in the successful conduct of this year’s Dasara festivities, the Dasara Jumbos will be leaving for their respective camps on Wednesday.

The elephants led by Arjuna will be given a traditional farewell by District In-charge Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad, Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha and other officials at the Mysore Palace premises.

The District Administration has also arranged lunch for Mahouts, Kavadis and their families. Special pujas will be offered to the elephants at 12.30 pm before they are transported in lorries to their respective camps.

Elephants Durga Parameshwari, Srirama and Gajendra will return to K.Gudi Forest in Chamarajanagar while the howdah elephant Arujna will be taken to Balle forest in H.D.Kote taluk. Prashantha, Harsha, Vikram, Gopi and Kaveri will be sent back to Dubare Forest in Kodagu district while Abhimanyu, Varalakshmi, Mary and Balarama to Thithimathi forest, also in Kodagu district.
