Mandya: The members of Mandya Bar Association boycotted the court proceedings and staged a stir on Tuesday against listing of advocate D Suresh’s name as accused in the honour killing case that was reported from Mandya.

It is said that Monica (19), who was niece of Suresh, was killed by her family at Thimmanahosuru on finding that she was in love with a Dalit boy.

Suresh is now listed as an accused, to which the Bar members took exception stating that his name has been included with ulterior motives.

However, amidst protests, Mohan (father of Monica) and D Suresh (uncle) were produced before the court. The judge remanded them in judicial custody.

Monica, a Vokkaliga was strangled to death at her house in Thimmana Hosuru in the taluk and burnt at a farmland by her father and his relatives to destroy the evidence, it is said.
