Mangaluru: Babu K V, 34 year old construction worker from Vadasery Village, Near Payyanur, Kannur District, Kerala had a fall from first floor while working at a construction site near Cheemeni, Payyanur.

Babu sustained head injuries and was rushed to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital and after first aid he was shifted to A J Hospital on Saturday, April 2.  He was declared brain dead on 4th April midnight.  

Soon after learning about the brain death, team at A J Hospital swung into action and approached Babu’s brother for the organ donation with the help of a journalist Aneesh Balan of Deshabhimani who is from their hometown.    

Harvested organs were shifted to Bengaluru from A J Hospital.

Babu is survived by 3 year old daughter Diya, wife Sandhya, brother and parents.

“Jeevanvileena” the organ donation awareness campaign by A J Hospital is yielding results and more people are volunteering / helping people donate organs.
