Madikeri: The famous Karagotsav of four “Shaktidevathas” (goddesses) namely Kunduru Chowti Mariyamma, Kanchi Kamakshiyamma, Dandina Mariyamma and Kote Mariyamma on account of Madikeri Dasara began, here on Sunday, September 29.

The Karagas received puja by the devotees after various rituals. It also received special puja at Sri Basaveshwara, Sri Chowdeshwari, Sri Kodandarama, Sri Kannika Parameshwari and Sri Ram Mandir.

Temple priests M Harish, Anees Kumar, Naveen Kumar, and G M Umesh carried Karagas of Sri Kundurumotte temple, Sri Kote Mariyamma temple, Sri Kanchi Kamakshi temple and Sri Dandina Mariyamma temple, respectively.

Madikeri MLA Appachu Ranjan, Virajpet MLA K G Bopaiah, Deputy Commissioner Annies Kanmani Joy and others were present.
