Madikeri: Senior lawyer and former MLC A K Subbaiah has heavily condemned the state government for taking a stand against the verdict of the Supreme Court.

Calling the decision of the state government to not release water to Tamil Nadu as per the decision of the Apex Court as unacceptable, he said that the state may end up paying a heavy price for the stand.

“River water can never be property of one place. It belongs to all the places that it flows through its natural course. Since Tamil Nadu too has right over river Cauvery, the state’s decision to not release water is incorrect,” he said adding that the issue needs legal battle and not some street show.

“If people take to the street against SC verdict, it will lead to only greater troubles. Resignations and change of government will not change the verdict of the Apex Court,” he said.

Speaking about M K Ganapathi and D K Ravi suicide cases, A K Subbaiah said that though it is clear that the two had committed suicide, the politicians of the state were milking the issues for political gains.
