Mysuru: The artist who was chained and locked up for ten years in a dark room has been finally released with the help from artists’ organisations and Tahsildar on Thusrday, April 14. He was then admitted to K R hospital.

It may be recalled that Kumaraswamy, aged 26, from Hura village in Nanjangud taluk was crazy about drawing God’s pictures. Ten years back on an Amavasya night, he tore his clothes, ran inside a room and from then on never came outside. His sister and mother vowed at several temples for his betterment. But his condition remained the same.
Coming under pressure from the artists organisations and the Tahsildar, Kumaraswamy’s mother Nanjamma, admitted him to the hospital. She is worried and tense about her future as she has no money or financial help from anyone.
“I feed my son doing daily wage jobs. These organizations along with the Tahslidar forced me to admit my son to a hoispital. The hospital is looking after him without charging a penny. But the doctor asks me to get certain medicines from outside for which I don’t have any money,” says Nanjamma.
The doctors treating Kumaraswamy said that they are keeping him under observation before going for other treatments.
