Panama Paper leaks: Investors include 31 families from Bengaluru

Bengaluru: About 31 families from Bengaluru are said to have made investments as per the Panama papers leaked by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).

The papers allege that the investments are made in different companies based in British Virgin Islands which is considered to be tax haven.

Most of the investors are corporate businessmen according to the list and it doesn’t contain any names of politicians. That has led to doubt the credibility of the information.

Liquor baron, Vijay Mallya; former finance officer of UB Group, Ayani Kurussi Raveendranath Nedungadi; former managing director of UB Holdings, Atikukke Harish Bhat and former chief finance officer of United Spirits, Padai Anantasubrahmanyan Murali are mentioned in the list.

As per reports, Nedungadi happens to be a shareholder in Modesto Group. Bhat and his wife, have invested in British Virgin Islands-based, Horizon Limited and Murali and his wife have invested in Diamond Dust.

Two Ballari-based mining families are also in the list. Some of the other names are Anand Reddy, Mareddy, Gangi Reddy, Anil Singh & Nitin Panchmal, Ashok Madhaw, Alok, Alpana, Shivangini Bhartia, Bhavani Prasad Tapal, Bollachettira D Appachu, HJ Siwani & MJ Siwani, Jayashree Ralhan, Kapil Sarin, Karuturi Ramakrishna, Mayumath, Nagaraj, Ravi, Sangamanath Kurugod, Munukutla Ramalakshmi, Muthuswamy Poobalan, Pavan Arun Salve, Pradeep Ramanarasimha Setty Kare, Prem Bhatia, Pritam Sen and Priya and Manohar Durai.
