Last minute preparation for Eid in Mysuru

Mysuru: With the holy month of Ramzan entering its final phase on Wednesday, Muslims in Mysuru have started last minute preparation for Eid. Meena Bazar market in Mandi Mohalla flooded with mouthwatering food stalls while shops selling ready to wear clothes and gift articles were also crowded.

With eid scheduled on Thursday, seasonal shops of dry fruits were full of buyers. Dry fruits prices have registered more than 20 percent increase this year. Dates from UAE, almonds and walnuts from Iran are the hot picks. Dry fruits are instant and long lasting source of energy and the imported dry fruits are of superior quality.
Eid will be celebrated across the state on July 7. Non-muslim food lovers also make it a point to visit these stalls to taste various delicacies as they are available only during Ramzan. It’s also busy time for tailors as many people prefer stitched clothes with handmade embroidery.

More than 50,000 people are expected to attend mass prayer at Eidgah Maidan in Tilaknagar. After consultation with Central Moon Committee at Bengaluru, Mysuru District Moon Committee decided to celebrate Id ul Fitr on Thursday.

PWD and district incharge minister HC Mahadevappa, Primary and Secondary Education and Wakf and Minorities Welfare Committee Minister Tanveer Sait, MLAs Vasu, Somashekar, Deputy Commissioner C Shikha, Police Commissioner B Dayanand are expected to take part in the mass prayer.
