Mysore : Widespread losses have been reported in a huge fire that erupted in the Chamundi Hills area on February 9, Sunday.

Fire was first noticed in the area leading to Uttanahallia via the Nanjangud route. Some portions of the hill adjoining the Uttanahalli road were destroyed in the afire. As per reports as much as eight acre of forest area has been damaged.
Locals immediately alerted the Fire Service Personnel who rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. However, by then several bushes, shrubs and plants were gutted in the fire.
Though the fire squad returned after putting out the fire, very soon another fire was noticed in the hill area in the afternoon. The fire fighters battled until 8 in the night to bring the fire under control. It was indeed a tough time for the fire fighters as it was impossible to reach the place which was ablaze. Even locals lent a helping hand to the fire service men.
