Mysuru: Due to Karnataka Bandh on Friday, KSRTC, Southern Karnataka region incurred loss to the tune of Rs 470.24 lakhs.
According to KSRTC officials, 4673 schedules and 17.29 lakhs km were cancelled. As precautionary measures, the department didn’t take any risk to operate buses from 6am. The buses started resume only after 6pm. Fourteen districts come under KSRTC Southern region includes Mysuru, Mangaluru, Mandya, Madikeri and Tumkuru.
The bandh also had severe impact at Devaraja Market, none of the nearly 1200 shops were opened incurring more than Rs 1 crore loss. The shops were opened only after 6pm. “Always when it comes to cauvery related protest; people come in large number to support. Water is important for any cultivation, hence we too extended our support to bandh” added Pailwan Mahadev, President of Devaraja Market Traders Association.
