Celebration of Nativity of Mother Mary and inauguration of ‘Young Tanzania’

Tanzania: ‘Monthi Fest’, the feast of Nativity of Mother Mary was celebrated with devotion at Mary Immaculate conception Church, Kifaru SAME on Thursday evening at 4.30pm.
Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Hilary lobo celebrated the Holy Eucharist and SMAM Social Development director Rev. Fr. Victor Machado gave the homily on the significance of celebration. Mission superior Rev. Fr. Alwyn M. J D’Souza and Asst. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Jason Lobo were the concelebrants.

Parishioners brought flowers and offerings to mother Mary. Fr. Hilary lobo blessed the new crops, grains, vegetables offered by the faithful. Parishioners conducted the beautiful choir and enhanced the tempo of celebration.

After the mass Sugarcane one of the significance of ‘Monthi Fest’ was distributed among all which was donated by Leonardo Laghua and family. Sisters of Marian convent decorated the Alter and Mother Mary’s statue. Brother Lanson Pinto was instrumental in all arrangements. At the end parish priest thanked those who regularly joined for 9 days Novena and everyone for the celebration.

Blessing and Inauguration of ‘Young Tanzania’:

After the celebration all parishioners along with priests marched towards Youth co-operative project site called ‘Young Tanzania’. It is an initiative of Society of Mangalore Africa Mission [SMAM] to empower youth of Kifaru Parish and generate employment through self-sustaining projects. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Hilary Lobo blessed the newly built Chicken & Piggery farm and prayed for its success and entrusted it to the care of Mather Mary.

Through this co-operative society youth will have small scale livestock industry which will help not only the youth from the parish but also all the parishioners. SMAM has many plans to empower the poor people of Kifaru and its nearby villages. All parishioners seemed to be very happy through this initiative. Mission superior Rev. Fr. Alwyn M. J D’Souza thanked everyone who worked for the realization of this project.
