Kasturirangan Report outrage; Kodagu Bandh on Dec 2

Mysuru: The members of Kasturirangan Varadi Virodhi Horata Samithi have called for Kodagu Bandh on Tuesday December 2, against the implementation of the Kasturirangan Report on Western Ghats.

The bandh is being observed from 6 am to 6 pm today.

On Monday December 1, in a meeting headed by MLA Appachu Ranjan, it was decided that the report should be rejected at once. He said that there are several issues in Western Ghats and deemed forests to which the Assembly and the State Government must pay attention.

Ranjan also alleged that a few environmentalists were behind the detrimental programmes being implemented in the district. He further stressed that he would raise the matter during the winter session of Assembly to be held in Belagavi.

District Congress Committee President B.T. Pradeep, Coffee Growers’ Action Committee Member C.M. Pemmaiah, Akhila Kodava Samaja President Matanda Monnappa, District BJP President Suja Kushalappa and others were present.
