Mysuru: The newly elected Karnataka State Safai Karmachari Chairman – Narayan – visited the KR hospital on Monday December 1, to check the working conditions in the hospital and discussed the issues with regards to wages given to them.

The commission had informed the K R hospital before the visit, however when the chairman visited the hospital, there was no one to receive him. Addressing the media he said that the concerned officers failed to follow the protocol and they will issue legal notice on this.

 The workers alleged that a huge sum of amount is being misused by the contractor and the workers are only paid Rs 4750, per month however Narayan speaking to workers assured that he will help them get their entire salary, which is Rs 281 per day, prescribed by the government.

 People who have been working over 16 years still have not got their PF account number. Presently agency called SWISS has got the tender and they also failed give PF and ESI facility to the workers, they said.

 The officers and Dean of K R Hospital Krishna Murthy was instructed to look after the PF and ESI of workers by the hospital itself rather than giving it to the contractors. Contractor will be issued legal notice by the commission and he will be asked to deliver proper details with regards to the same.

After observing the hygiene and safety preparedness of the workers in the hospital, the Commissioner directed the hospital authoriries to make the workers use gloves, mask and proper footwear while cleaning the medical waste.
